EPS technicians have begun installing the latest LTE alarm
signal communication devices in advance of what thetelecommunications industry has termed the ‘3G/4G Sunset.’
Simply put, the sunset marks the end of support for aging 3G &
4G networks by cellular telephone companies.
Cellular communication technology continues to improve
generationally. In much the same way Apple and Samsung
release new cell phones with the latest technological
improvements and phase out their older models, cell service
providers have made substantial improvements to their networks
over time. The older, slower networks are eventually phased out
as the providers transition their support to more robust, more
reliable and faster networks. In this case, 3G and 4G technology
is being phased out in favor of the next generation called LongTerm Evolution or LTE.
